Where are the Falcons in the world?
Founded in 1833, Friends Select School has fostered the development and growth of
countless students for almost two hundred years. Generation after generation, our alumni practice what they have learned here in their day-to-day work, bettering their communities and contributing to the public good.
The oldest alumnus, Ed Weinrott, who still makes donations to the school, is from the class of 1937. Our alumni’s loyalty to the school is demonstrated by both their generous contributions to the school and their firm beliefs in the school’s values and principles.
They are in the fields of education, science, social services, business, and arts.
They are the professors teaching at reputable universities.
They are talented painters who live on the other side of the earth for decades to pursue their interests in art. They are the “Mad Men” (and women) in the advertising industry.
They are entrepreneurs who have founded billion dollar companies and still push for new ideas and create opportunities for others in the world of business.
They are doctors who have committed themselves for decades on the frontline of saving others’ lives.
They are award-winning photographers and authors who have created exquisite artworks, climbing up skyscrapers to capture the beauty of cities’ views.
They are activists who have marched on streets to express their wishes for the nation to move into the right direction. They have participated in a wide-range of public protests including People’s Climate March and the Civil Rights Movement. They are unafraid of confronting the authorities and challenging the unjust policies because they believe in the Quaker values that have been taught at this school since the first day it was founded.
In the future, The Falcon will feature a series of these remarkable FSS alumni from different classes. Through one-on-one interviews with the alumni, we will look into their personal and professional lives after they have graduated from FSS.
