Editorial Cartoon: The Cost of College
This illustration critiques the financial sacrifice many people have to make, just to attend college. In today’s society, college is often portrayed as a necessary stepping stone to progress. Many people feel like they have to go to college to be viewed as qualified for their profession. However, everyone is not in a financial position to pay for all the expenses that come along with the college process and experience. Many people take on debt that they carry for years. In my illustration, I show a random prestigious college that students may feel obligated to attend. Then I show a current student, with a backpack weighed down by their books and excessive debt that they will be paying the institution for the foreseeable future.
