This week, we are starting off strong with a fact about our very own mascot animal – the falcon. Did you know that some falcons have been recorded flying at speeds as fast as 242 miles per hour? In fact, the fastest bird on the planet is the Peregrine Falcon. In one of its hunting behaviors called the “hunting dive,” peregrine falcons “soar to great heights, then dives steeply at heights more than 200 miles per hour.”
