Philly is known to have some of the best pizza. These are five of Philadelphia’s most popular pizza places, according to FSS students: Angelo’s, Emmy Squared, Pizzeria Stella, and Santucci’s.
Pizza Place #1: Angelo’s
Angelo’s Pizza is one of the most popular pizza spots in Philly, located at 736 S 9th St. in South Philly. The line for this famous pizza ALWAYS trails outside of the shop and even sometimes fully around the corner. This is because Angelo’s takes more of an offline approach by being cash-only and only recently accepting online photos. Philly locals, such as Bradley Cooper, the Flyers, and several politicians, love and visit Angelo’s.

Pizza Place #2: Emmy Squared
Emmy Squared is a newer pizza spot in South Philly at 632 S 5th St. Emmy Squared is especially popular for its rooftop seating, where you can see a lot of the skyline as you enjoy its Detroit-style pizza. Emmy Squared has over 30 locations all over the US, including Nashville, New York, Las Vegas, and so many more cities. Check out more information about Emmy Squared in this article!

Pizza Place #3: Pizzeria Stella
Pizzeria Stella serves authentic Neapolitan wood-fired pizza and is located in Headhouse Square at 420 S 2nd St. Stella is more of a sit-down restaurant that offers a wide range of Italian food, such as various pastas, flatbreads, salads, and more. Stella has been in business for 15 years and is a favorite among people all over the city. Sofia (‘25) says about Stella, “I’ve been going to Stellas since the first grade; it’s one of my favorite restaurants in Philly. I love how you can see the food being freshly made in the wood-fire pizza oven.”

Pizza Place #4: Santucci’s
Santucci’s Pizza was founded over 65 years ago, with its first location in South Philly at 10th and Carpenter. Santuccis is famous for its original square pizza. The chain of restaurants is family-owned and operated, with over 10 locations in Philly and surrounding areas. Santucci’s Pizza is extremely popular in all parts of the city. In a review on Pizza Quixote, they say, “Santucci’s is a great story — an old-school piemaker, expanding into new territory, without any artisanal pretense. Go get some.”
