Most of the 9th grade English class has finished reading The Catcher in the Rye by J.D Salinger. The book follows a boy named Holden, who spends a couple of days in New York alone, after his expulsion from Pencey Prep. After talking with our peers, it became clear there are two schools of thought regarding the novel’s protagonist: One is that Holden Caulfield is a troubled kid who’s honest and relatable, and the other is that he is brutal and inconsiderate. It is clear Holden has his flaws, no matter who you talk to, and everyone shares at least some of these foibles, and a couple of his more admirable traits. Within our grade, we heard many people discuss how deeply they related to Holden, and while all of those people shared traits with him, we often thought other characters suited them better. Linked below is a personality test, to see, once and for all which character you would be.
