In the midst of the coronavirus crisis, 52 seniors with an $8000 budget are struggling to piece together a final trip to close out their senior year. With the uncertainty surrounding the global coronavirus crisis growing everyday, the original plan for an early May senior trip will not happen.

The plan was to take the entire twelfth grade on some sort of multi-day trip. There were talks of the grade traveling to one of the New Jersey beaches or maybe an amusement park. No final decision had been made but students were diligently working to figure out a plan and set it in motion.

Many seniors were excited about the idea of having one final trip as a grade to spend time with their friends in a low stress environment to close out their highschool experience. With the senior trip being all but cancelled and seniors missing the entire fourth quarter, morale is low for many in the twelfth grade.

Former class president Arley Johnson even stated, “Losing the senior trip is a big blow to our grade, we were working hard and some really new and interesting ideas in the works,” he paused and laughed and then said “I really wanted to go to the beach!’

Hopes for a senior trip have not been entirely crushed. There are talks of possibly moving the trip to sometime this summer, or maybe something else will be done for the twelfth grade with the trip budget. Students have also considered a smaller scale beach trip this summer with friends to try and fill the gap of a senior trip.
