These photos are from one of the most anticipated fundraising events of the school year: Art for Access, which is held at Friends Select every winter. Art for Access is student-planned and -led, and performed by Friends Select students. People have the opportunity to perform music, dance, or even recite poetry. The event is a fundraiser for the Children’s Scholarship Fund Philadelphia. This organization raises money to allow students in Philadelphia to attend private K-8 schools. The event runs like a concert, with hosts who introduce songs and tell jokes related to the performances. This year, 17 groups performed music, including classical pieces on the cello and violin, dances to pop songs, and even student-written songs. Art for Access also features an art sale, where student works created during school service days are sold during the intermission of the show. This event is unique among Friends Select concerts, as students have complete freedom to play any songs they choose. Art for Access is different and special each year, and you should definitely attend next year!
