FSS students’ political views, societal concerns, and voting registration differ dramatically from America as a whole. In a survey of 34 students conducted on October 15, more than 8 in 10 FSS students identified as Democrats. A nationwide Gallup poll in 2024 showed that only 46% of Americans identify as Democrats. Healthcare, abortion, and education are the top three most important political issues to FSS students, while government corruption, cost of living, and the economy are the most popular to all Americans. Only 8% of students surveyed have registered to vote, compared to 73% of citizens nationwide. One student admitted to voting in presidential and state elections. While FSS students are eager to voice their political opinions, few are willing (or old enough) to contribute their vote to make a difference.
